Fruška Gora
From Ruma, head towards Fruška Gora and its monasteries. Vrdnik and Mala Remeta, Krušedol and Grgeteg form part of excursion routes connecting Srem's nature and cultural heritage.
Spend the day walking or continue to Sremski Karlovci and its wine cellars.
Begin with Jazak Monastery, set among the green southern slopes, then continue towards Vrdnik and Vrdnička Ravanica Monastery. If you travel via Irig, Novo Hopovo and Krušedol reveal another part of Fruška Gora’s heritage. Choose one or two monasteries and leave enough time for a quiet walk through their grounds and surroundings.
For time outdoors, explore the woodland trails and picnic spots around Iriški Venac. Zmajevac is a lovely place to pause, with views over Vrdnik and the Srem plain. Bring a picnic or enjoy a gentle walk in the shade. If you prefer waterside scenery, add a visit to Pavlovci Lake, also known as Kudoš, at the foot of Fruška Gora.
Orchards and vineyards line the countryside, making local wines a natural part of the trip. Stop for lunch at a restaurant in Vrdnik or at Kovačević Wine House near Irig, where regional food and wine complement each other. A monastery visit, a walk to a viewpoint and lunch with a winery stop along the way are enough for a full day at an unhurried pace.
