Allow a few hours for Borkovac: walk through the pine woodland, head down to the water and pause to enjoy the lake views. The recreation area’s maintained fitness trails and walking paths also suit gentle exercise, making a visit easy to fit into a relaxed morning or afternoon during your stay in Ruma.

Nearby are Hotel Borkovac, with its restaurant and spa facilities, and an outdoor swimming pool complex with a children’s pool. The lake is known for sport fishing and is also used by kayakers. Depending on the season, you can combine a nature walk with lunch or other activities in the surrounding area.

Borkovac is gradually being improved. Reports from summer 2026 described paving work on part of the walking and cycling path along the eastern shore, alongside further work on Borkovac Stream. These improvements form part of a wider project to connect Ruma, the lake and Vrdnik. The route is being built in stages, so check which sections are open before setting off by bicycle.
